Looking for things to do with a visiting relative (92 Words)

Hi guys,

My aunt is visiting from AB March 9 - March 19th. I'm looking for some things she can do with my mom and/or myself. She's about 50 so able to pretty much everything. I'm just wondering if there are any cooking classes or pottery classes or plays, etc we could attend.

My mom already plans on going to bingo, the casino, to a couple of movies, to get back massages, and to the Farmer's Market.

Thanks in advance! ...

The Canadian Auto Workers is criticizing the federal government for awarding a $254 million contract to a U.S. company to build trucks for the Canadian Forces at its plant in Texas while it is laying off workers at its plant in Chatham.
"Somebody has to explain to us why Canadian workers can't build military trucks for the Canadian military," said senior CAW executive Bob Chernecki, referring to a defence department contract to Illinois-based Navistar International Corp. to build 1,300 medium-duty trucks for the Canadian Forces.
Navistar sent out 500 layoff notices to its Chatham workforce last week, with another 200 expected in the spring. Chernecki said that would leave only 200 workers and the plant's survival is at stake.

PEI Drivers (181 Words)

Why is it that most of the drivers here don't know the rules of the road or just don't have any sense of the world outside of their vehicle. I think the majority of the island drivers have never driven on a divided highway or interstate. People, the bypass now has 2 lanes if you haven't realized which means you drive in the right lane and use the left lane to pass, but for some reason Islanders can't grasp this simple concept even when there are posted signs.
I can't understand why you would want to drive as close as possible to opposing traffic especially during the winter when roads could be snow covered. Also when turning unto a 2 lane highway or merging onto it, the correct procedure is to enter or merge into the closest lane but for some reason islanders would rather cross all lanes of traffic so they can again drive in the passing lane at 20 KMH below the posted speed limit. People, get with the program and look outside your car when driving!!!...

Blind or Dumb? Or just a liar? (91 Words)

Jim Flaherty could be the worst finance minister in the history of our country.
Is he a liar? Probably. It is possible of course that he is just as incompetant as he appears to be and is not lying when he puts out his budget, but would that be any better in the long run?
Is this our choice? A profoundly incompetant finance minister or a profoundly dumb finance minister?
Should we not demand a little more for our country?

Bell Aliant "Turbo Stick" (231 Words)

Well it really isn't a stick. It is a very small nice looking device smaller than my ipod touch. Plugged in the wall, sitting on the window sill in the middle of the house. You can run up to five computers by a wireless signal.
I plugged it in last night and so far I am in total awwwwww with its speed and signal. It is awesome!
We have been paying 93.00 a month for the past 4 or 5 years for satellite Internet with Xplornet and we would get slowed down to worst than dial-up if we downloaded to much. So now for 49.00 and unlimited usage with this Bell plan I am on cloud nine. I can watch YouTube, compass, look at all the beautiful photos on the Canon forum I want.
Back when we had Bell cell phones we could not use them at home (no signal) as we live in a low spot in the woods so we were very pessimistic about this "turbo stick". When Bell called and said it was available to us we said we would try it but had our doubts it would work here. We were totally wrong . I love it.
So for all you high-speed-less folks out there who are thinking about getting it or not, give it a shot.
Just my opinion.

Torture (205 Words)

Federal government documents on Afghan detainees suggest that Canadian officials intended some prisoners to be tortured in order to gather intelligence, according to a legal expert.

If the allegation is true, such actions would constitute a war crime, said University of Ottawa law professor Amir Attaran, who has been digging deep into the issue and told CBC News he has seen uncensored versions of government documents released last year.

"If these documents were released [in full], what they will show is that Canada partnered deliberately with the torturers in Afghanistan for the interrogation of detainees," he said.

"There would be a question of rendition and a question of war crimes on the part of certain Canadian officials. That's what's in these documents, and that's why the government is covering up as hard as it can."

Harper's henchmen have already attacked this guy as being a crony of Ignatieff, stating he was a harvard professor (which he wasn't) etc. I would say the knives are being sharpened as I type so ... let the games begin....

A Newfoundlander Running in the Rain (315 Words)

A Newfoundlander Running in the Rain

A woman was having a daytime affair while her husband was at work. One rainy day she was in bed with her boyfriend when, to her horror, she heard her husband's car pull into the driveway. 'Oh my God - Hurry! Grab your clothes and jump out the window. My husband's home early!'

'I can't jump out the window. It's raining out there!'

'If my husband catches us in here, he'll kill us both!' she replied. He's got a hot temper and a gun, so the rain is the least of your problems!'

So the boyfriend scoots out of bed, grabs his clothes and jumps out the window! As he ran down the street in the pouring rain, he quickly discovered he had run right into the middle of the St John's Labour Day marathon, so he started running along beside the others, about 5000 of them.

Being naked, with his clothes tucked under his arm, he tried to blend in as best he could. After a little while a small group of runners who had been watching him with some curiosity, jogged closer.

'Do you always run in the nude?' one asked.

'Oh yes by'e!' he replied, gasping in air. 'It feels so wonderfully free!'

Another runner moved a long side. 'Do you always run carrying your clothes with you under your arm?

'Oh , yes me by'e' our friend answered breathlessly. 'That way I can get dressed right at the end of the run and get in my car to go home! '

Then a third runner cast his eyes a little lower and asked, 'Do you always wear a condom when you run?'

'Lard Tunderin Geez No by'e..........just when it's rainin'....

The Love Dress (214 Words)

A woman stopped by, unannounced, at her son's house.

She knocked on the door then immediately walked in. She was shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked.

Soft music was playing, and the aroma of perfume filled the room.

'What are you doing?' she asked.

'I'm waiting for Justin to come home from work.' The daughter-in-law answered.

' But you're naked!' the mother-in-law exclaimed.

'This is my love dress,' the daughter-in-law explained.

'Love dress? But you're naked!'

'Justin loves me to wear this dress,' she explained.

'Every time he sees me in this
dress, he instantly becomes romantic and ravages me for hours.'

The mother-in-law left.. When she got home she undressed, showered, put on her best perfume, dimmed the lights, put on a romantic CD, and lay
on the couch waiting for her husband to arrive.

Finally, her husband came home. He walked in and saw her lying there so provocatively.

' What are you doing?' he asked.

'This is my love dress,' she whispered,
sensually.

'Needs ironing,' he said, 'What's for dinner?'
