Does anyone else here use eastlink webmail to access their eastlink email account? they upgraded their email program last week and ever since I've been having +++problems accessing it. The first couple of days it worked fine, but ever since Java stops at 61% and won't progress to my inbox

I've been getting this every so often but I usually just check later in the day and eventually it works again.
Hit or miss it seems.

I use it as well. the first few days I had problems but now it seems fine, just takes a while to load. I am not a fan of the new layout as it automatically displays the next email after I delete the one I was reading. Sometimes I don't open emails on purpose so I can remind myself to do something .....

Tried to access it today and it wouldn't load for most of the day.
Did get in once this afternoon but shut out for most of the day.

For something a bit more reliable you should be able to configure your eastlink mail as a pop account within Gmail. I don't use my eastlink mail, but I do have some pop accounts setup through gmail like that, works well, doesn't show to the recipient that you're using gmail (unless they can analyze the email headers)

something else with eastlink:
when I check my mail using webmail, I cannot access my mail messages that have been opened or read in outlook express. this is kind of a problem if I want to check an old email but am not on my computer at home.
I know the easy solution is just stop using outlook (which I have), but is there any way I can recover my messages so that I can access them via eastlink webmail?

In outlook express mail settings there is an option to leave messages on the server when checking mail. This should solve your problem, but as I recall from trying this a while back I think that every time I checked my mail with outlook it would download every message on the server every time, so I stopped leaving messages on the server.
Your best bet is probably to switch over to web based email such as GMail or Hotmail. I use GMail now and its awesome!

Eastlink took something that worked well, and was user-friendly, and replaced it with something that fails to work more than half the time, looks ugly, and doesn't offer the user nearly as many options.
This, they call "improving" their service.
And try to get somebody from Eastlink to respond to an email asking them when their webmail will be fixed....
